"Dear Students,
You are invited to the SIPAC General Meeting - Career Night on Thursday, February 16th because SIPAC has prepared a special program just for you and your parents.
SIPAC is presenting its first ever Career Night on Thursday, February 16, 2017, from 6 pm - 8 pm in the Wilsey Library at SI. Career Night will feature an accomplished panel featuring a serial entrepreneur, a public policy director, a medical doctor, a banking executive, an app engineer and a computer graphic artist. These young professionals will describe their career paths, give advice on how to be successful in college, suggest how to get an internship and a first job, and reveal why they are passionate about their life's work. We urge you to attend Career Night along with your parents. Dinner will be provided.
If you have questions,, you can email us at SIPAC94116@gmail.com, talk with Mr. Orque, or feel free to call SIPAC board members Manny Aquitania, Clive Isip, or Rachelle Chong.
We hope to see you there.
The SIPAC Board"

4. Spring Dance Concert?
Moderators
At your next club meeting, can you please extend an invitation to your membership? We would love to have more clubs and affinity groups represented by dancing in the Spring Dance Concert. The Hawaiian Club has been holding it down and we have had past performances from HipHop club, we'd love to mix it up with other clubs who may have student members who specialize in other social or cultural dance forms.
It doesn't have to be a large group or a long performance, but it is a great opportunity to share styles that folks work on informally or study intensely outside of school, but don't get much opportunity to showcase on campus.
Performances are March 9-11
Tech rehearsals March 7 & 8
- cultural dance?
- Rachel will talk to Ms. Galvin and get further details
- Practice Friday, February 10 after school at choral room?
- Send email with logistics:
- Permission Slips email - Sr. Orque will send
- Need between 6 - 11 more people for our group
- Routine video
Please remind the students to dress warm and to wear dark colors (i.e. black, dark navy blue).
Some General Notes:
We're planning four lines total during the parade. (Please designate two leaders that will lead the S.I lines)
Roses will be lit with line 1 having all orange, line 2 blue, line 3 orange, line 4 blue
-Always start out each pattern with the right foot stepping forward, and each step is a count (hopefully you can hear me in the video)
-Hold the roses in your right hand, and when waving the roses, wave them high so the crowd can see you
-Gents keep their left hands behind their lower backs
-Ladies keep their left hands down swing by their sides, and with their wrists bent.
-During the cross over between lines have fun! Feel free to throw in what ever moves you all want to do or better yet if you guys want to coordinate as a group and be creative on the cross overs we're all for it ;)
-Also during cross overs, the right line should always cross in front, lines 1 and 2 will cross between each other, and lines 3 and 4 will cross between each other
- In Pattern 2, the pivot in turns are meant to be in place but the hope to keep marching forward with the cross overs, this will take some practice =)
-Our apartment is tiny, so be sure when you practice to give yourselves plenty of space, to move forward.
-The routine starts with "Pattern 1" two times, then "Pattern 2 once," and then it just repeats
Pattern 1:
-Walk forward for 4 counts, 1. Right step - 2. Left Step - 3. Right Step - 4. Left Step (Sway the roses high with each step)
- Walk LOW for 4 counts, 5. Right step - 6. Left Step - 7. Right Step - 8. Left Step (now keeping the roses low and steady for contrast)
Pattern 2:
- Step out with the right foot on the 1st count, pivot and turn on the 2nd count
- Step out with the right foot on the 3rd count, pivot and turn on the 4th count
- Side step for 4 counts, 5, 6, 7, and 8... crossing over lines and waving or moving the rose (Right line always crosses in front)
