  • Identity formation
  • ASC Affinity: Safe place where those who identity as Asian, share similar experiences and can discuss these topics openly

1. Ribbon Project (Emily)
  • Since Thursday, gone to classrooms, put up posters, reaching out to friends
  • Ribbons are in some classrooms & Magis office
  • What can ASC do to keep conversation going?
    • Any time future classes feel the need to use symbolism when they feel marginalized, use the Ribbon Project
    • In the future, explain the meaning of the Ribbon Project more so people understand
    • Started the project very late, so maybe start early in the future
  • What can we do to continue to initiate change?
    • Affinity groups should come together and mobilize
    • Focus on those who have social influence: white allies
    • Also take into account those who understand the project
    • Target the lower class grades
    • Introduce Affinity + Ribbon Project in the beginning of the year, with freshmen who are taking Ethnic Studies


2. Korean BBQ Social Wrap Up

  • Thoughts? Good? Bad?
    • People enjoyed the food
    • A bit disorganized
      • designate two-three people up in the front instead of all six
      • get their early
      • be in the room before all the people come to greet them
      • set up a time ex. 2:45
    • Video
      • some felt a bit uncomfortable with the video, but might be willing to come back
      • others saw the video as informative


3. APAHM Wrap Up / Thoughts

  • Thoughts? Good? Bad?
    • Morning prayers were good
    • Do more on SITV
      • maybe one every week to gain more exposure
    • Plan in March, be more organized
    • Posters: send email two weeks before spring break
    • Bake sale
      • promote it through SITV
      • educate them on what the food is
      • set a price, get plates and napkins
      • break & lunch?

4. Next school year
  • New SIPAC Leadership
  • Aug. 20 SIPAC Presentation, Freshmen Orientation
  • Pasko: Dec. 9
  • Leadership Retreat: TBD
