  1. SIPAC Meeting Debrief

    • Want us to facilitate a career panel at the next SIPAC meeting - March 23, 2022

  2. Holi Event
    • Were there any responses/did we send out the email? - not yet, send out email today, Monday, February 28 - Ethan
    • talk about the mythology and history behind the celebration
    • celebrate by showing students how to make the color powder (gulal) using organic ingredients (ie. turmeric, red rose petals, different leaves, etc.)
    • distribute traditional sweets
    • Alternative events: Week of March 21st (look for more movies with southeast/south asian representation) - NOT on March 22nd - Thursday, March 24, after school
      • Movie/ID Formation event - Minari (2020) [highlights Asian immigration and generation gaps]
      • Half of It (2020) - possible collab with Safe Space? (a queer Asian American woman discovering herself in a majority white society)
        • For movie events: Debrief of movie/discussions and reactions
      • southeast Asian movies suggestions? 
      • ID Formation: Representation of Asians in America
        • Talk about different regions of Asia (very diverse!)
        • Highlight on East Asian/Southeast Asian Countries in America
          • Regional Hierarchical System

  3. Sash Requirements - Start mentioning again

  1. Lunar New Year Celebration Collaboration Debrief
    • how was it?  any improvements for the future?  any moments that stood out?
      • try to communicate more (have more frequent check-ins with our collaborators) 
        • collaboration with cultural groups... should be led by cultural groups and we, ASC, should support them (shouldn't be an affinity event)
      • YES, pre-packaged food! 
      • the red envelopes were great (the extra lucky money was good)!
      • table cloth should be circles 
      • materials should be bought and planned for (more organized)
      • consider rotating groups bc one group may get boring (give participants opportunities to switch)
      • have someone to teach the group or the ASC group ahead of time (so it's less chaotic)
  2. Chinese New Year Parade Debrief

  3. SIPAC Meeting

    • topic: how do we celebrate Lunar New Year (similar to podcast)

  4. BSU Showcase
    • Saturday, February 26 in the Commons from 6-9pm

  5. Holi - Festival of Colors
    • will be celebrated on March 18, 2022 (MIDTERM week)
    • if we choose to do this event, we should speak to more South-Asian students in preparation (ex: Ann, Indira) [if there is a student that wants to lead this event, we can support the student]
      • send an email to (all ASC) the South-Asian students gauging their interest by Friday, February 25 - Ethan, Isa, Ashley  
      • if no one is interested in leading, it is best if we do NOT have the event 
    • marks the beginning of spring after a long winter, symbolic of the triumph of good over evil
    • one way of celebrating is by throwing colored powder (gulal) into the air
      • each color holds a specific meaning
        • red - love and fertility
        • green - new beginnings
        • etc...
    • day ends with festive meal and the sharing of sweets

  2. Bay Area Ignatian Teach-In for Justice Debrief
    • how did it go? - a lot of participants
    • what went well? - we all spoke equally, the post-it notes (keeps ppl engaged)
    • future improvements? - work on the discussion part (dividing people up in a more orderly manner), a few people were falling asleep (maybe make it more engaging with activities), incorporate more discussion (throughout the presentation)
  3. Lunar New Year Event w/ Chinese Culture Club - Tuesday, February 15 in Commons @ 3:15pm
    • Irianna can't attend; Vivian is a maybe
