  - collaborate with alumni —> internships, opportunities, outreach, etc.

1B: ID Formation Event for 50th Anniversary

No new updates

• having alumni who come for the 50th celebration to be on a panel
• Ms. Wong & Sr. Orque will reach out to panelists!-- 
• Less planning, more discussion in terms of the panel
• Think about potential dates?

1C: Lunar New Year events

A) Chinese Culture Club 10th Dumpling Making Party

• Update as of Wed January 24:
• ASC will support financially, and will have its name on publicity.
• The wording will be something like "Supported by ASC."
• ASC will not run the event or send any publicity.
• ASC members can attend if they want, but it is not an ASC event.
• CCC may use the Commons space on February 16 at 2:30 pm.

• Chinese New Year event: event date is set for Friday February 16, 2024 at 3pm

Nam talked to some folks from CCC leadership because they were meeting after mandarin and I wanted to listen in, these are some things he talked about with them 

-CCC wants us to share slides — when we meet with them we can tell them we don’t want to present

-the food they mentioned MAYBE wanting: nian gao, egg rolls, tteokbokki, mango sticky rice, dim sum, spring roll, fried rice, chow mein 

 -want us to do the red envelope thing like last year

• Jordan placed the notes in the Drive from the Thursday, January 18 planning meeting.
• ASC Moderators can speak to KCC Moderator, Ms. Huynh.

D) Decorating the Student Center and Orradre Chapel

• Ms. Finn confirmed
• Decorating after school on Thursday, February 1 at 3 p.m.

E) ASC'S own Lunar New Year event:

-Wednesday, February 28th, 2024 at 6:30pm SIPAC Lunar New Year event

- Parents are booking Lion Dance performance.

- ASC board will present how they celebrate LNY (as they have done before).

- Ticket price for students: FREE but they must RSVP ahead of time. At the door $10

- Updates about student performances?

- Alicia and Carina will write the email for SIPAC LNY event and for volunteers to perform + sash requirement

- Caitlin will work on IG post and story for publicity

- Rini will work on a poster for the event (send to Caitlin to post) by Feb 18th

- Jordan will work on an SITV anchor announcement (on Feb 19th)

- Ashley and Caitlin will ask Coach Allison about potential Drill performances

*what are other ideas that we could do for this lunar new year event to really kick off?? 

*could we do some kind of big art project/ big bonding activity that would get folks engaged?

2A. ASC Jackets

• Ms. Hernandez’s reply on January 10 about donation

• Deadline to write letter? 

• Following up on your desire to donate money to Stop AAPI Hate. I spoke to Dr. McCann and this is what she shared regarding how to go about making a donation:

  Thank you for your email. It is great the students want a portion of the proceeds from jackets to make a donation. I always just submit a fundraiser check request and include the organization's mailing address and a brief cover letter. I've attached the one we use. Then, the school just sends the check for us. 

  
  
  I have attached the donation letter template/example that Dr. McCann shared. Please take a look and then work together as a board to craft yours. Once your letter is ready, Ms. Wong or Mr. Orque--can you fill out a check request, I can sign off and put the account number before submitting.
  
  
  - moderators, could you check the drive for the letter and see how it is?
  - Potentially raise the price for ASC jackets for the alumni? ($100)

3. Prayer dates for upcoming events: if you celebrate these holidays would you like to sign up to lead prayer?

4. Nam's ID Formation Brainstorms For the Future

• movie screening of everything everywhere all at once with a discussion afterwards
• we can make it a GOYB
• collab with LGBTQ+ affinity space talking about intersectionality between asian cultures and sexuality
• love in Asian cultures and families
• could intersect with mental health awareness
• potentially in March
• plz send any ideas!!! we wanna start planning early so that we can be ready for stressful months such as april and may when AP tests and finals are around

5. Potential Collaboration with Sacramento Asian Affinity Group

- tour around Chinatown 

- set a date in March?

6. Nam and Justin's Cool Boba Idea (founded on Sunday, January 14)

-go around the city, try different boba spots, review them on the si.asc instagram!
