1) How is everyone doing?

2) Board Shoutouts!

• shoutout Justin and Nam for all of their hard work with the letter! (we will review the letter together at the end of the meeting)

3) SIPAC

• update? (Sr. Orque)
• letter to Ms. Levine
• Aim to send out by Friday 3/31
• SIPAC writing a response rn- want to amplify ASC’s efforts
• Received response last week
• Friday, April 21 - MANDATORY X-Period (Hollaback/Right to Be Training)
• Had a talk about DEIB with SIPAC

4) ASC Jackets

• goal is to design, order, and distribute them before the end of the year
• design contest sent out to ASC students 
• final due date: Monday, March 20 at 9am (before quarter break)
• Criteria: 
• establishment year (1973)
• include ASC somewhere
• front and back design
• have something on the back that represents Asian cultures
• remind people that ASC is inclusive of ALL Asian cultures on the Asian continent
• students are only designing the logo on the top left and back
• how many design submissions have we received? 
• which are our favorites?

• visit Boathouse website for jackets that are pricey but a good investment
• send an email to the designers about different aspects of their design we would like to cooperate on? -- Nam and Justin
• things to note:
• Ella's design: talk about suggested changes in design
• has more variety of Asian cultures
• change Student to Students’
• suggest adding the Filipino parol at the center of the design instead
• change 50 to 50th
• change 2023 to est. 1973
• change est. 1973 to Saint Ignatius (keep the same font)

5) AANHPI Month in May

• what kind of events would you like to see?

• send out interest form to ASC students after quarter break
• still waiting on this for now, but hopefully send out BEFORE spring break
• Send Friday 3/24- Nam
• Optional: ask ASC students for current emotions
• ID formation event (leaning towards this idea)
• Meeting with ASC students for a safe space (like healing circle)
• Beneficial because of how reflective, educational, and engaging they are
• Topic Ideas: immigration, diversity and visibility in education,
• Structure Ideas: 
• simulation-like structure to lead students through
• anonymous circle sharing of personal stories/experiences with questions (think sophomore retreat and Arrupe Council)
• micro affinity groups within Asian and Asian American communities (inspired by POC Conference Señor Orque and Ms. Wong went to)
• Student Hero Posters
• Board members SHOULD submit one!
• Sr. Orque sent the email on Monday 3/27
• Due date: April 18, Tuesday at 11:59 p.m. (after spring break)

• possible identity formation topics:

• mental health in the aftermath of extreme events (violence and acts of racism)

• how to build inter-affinity unity

7) Last ASC Event

8) AANHPI Posters Social

• Put up posters and have a social event (we’ll get boba!!)

9) ASC Letter

• let's look at it together :)
• send it out by tomorrow?
• unsure about the larger scale audience to the entire student body because we lose our jurisdiction over articulating our thoughts
• maybe focus more on the letter to the ASC community for now
• how do we make sure that our words don’t come off as attacks to school administration and the entire student body?
• Zoom meeting on Sunday, April 2nd at 10:30am to debrief finalizations of the letter
• share letter with moderators to go over and talk with Ms. Hernandez to talk about
• goal is to send it after spring break

10) ASC Support 

• reminder to all the board that we are here to support each other!
• as we enter the fourth quarter, we remind ourselves to take consistent breaks, reach out to wellness counselors or trusted adults when we need help, and to always prioritize our physical, emotional, mental, and spiritual health!
