1. ASC Kickoff

2. Diwali Event

• Diwali is celebrated on October 24, 2022

• tentative date: after school on October 26th

• Festival of Lights celebrated in Hinduism and sometimes Buddhism

• usually lasts five days during the Hindu lunisolar month of Kartika 

• reach out to ASC members/students who may be interested in leading this event with us - Ann will send out a message and send their contact info in Slack

• By Thursday 10/6- know exactly who

• need to decide how much commitment will be needed and how to meet with them to get ideas

• weekly meetings with as many board members as possible

• send out an email to all of the students who are interested to gauge their ideas, time commitments, and which days would work best for them by Thursday, September 29th - Nam and Justin

• include in the email that we’re planning to have weekly meetings for 45 min-1 hour

3. Identity Formation

• effects of the model minority myth
• perpetual foreigner phenomenon
• October: Filipino American History Month - collaborate again with Filipino Culture Club and PIA?

4. Pasko 

• Saturday, December 10 (mark your calendars!)

• deadline to sign up is Wednesday, October 10, at 11pm

• cultural dances, outside groups perform (SIHI, Polynesian Dance club performs, Ukulele club, spoken word, and more)

• collaboration with SIPAC (Señor Orque already sent out email gauging interest for acts)

5. Lumpia with a Vengeance 

• movie showing at 3:30 pm on Sunday, October 2nd, Regal Stonestown theater

• limited number of free tickets for SI students

• tickets are $10 and sell out fast because of alumni, students, faculty, etc.

• GET YOUR TICKETS ASAP!!!!
