Before this meeting starts, please sit at a table with one senior, junior, and

sophomore/moderator in order for us to get to know each other.

It’s important for us to not just be a board but to be a community,

so reach out and say hi to each other in the hallways or anywhere outside of meetings!

Today’s Check In: How do you like to decompress and relax after a long day or week?

• If you can’t think of anything, try to think of something you can do for yourself in the next few days and also use each other’s ideas

1. Meeting with Ms. Hernandez? 

• TODAY: September 28, during 7th resource

  - canceled, rescheduled to a future meeting when we’re ALL here

• Let’s come in with an open mind and positive attitude!

2. ASC Kickoff: Tuesday, 9/26 @3pm in the commons 

Thank you all for your hard work!!! What did we do well and what can we improve for next year?

• four corners activity and having one person from each group come up
• kahoot trivia activity
• good food
• well organized event
• timing and pacing of activities

Things we could improve for next time:

• have labels for the food (plus noting allergy and spice concerns)
• practice what to say when introducing yourselves and making it more personal
• have people project more when coming up to talk; speak into the mic!
• script everything for the audience so the activities are more clearer
• have different people come up to speak and take turns leading the event
• when in doubt, start talking to people! conversations are always nice

3. ASC Jackets

• All publicity is finished– google form is due by 10/1 but extend it to 10/6

  - could potentially push the deadline and have another SITV commercial - Jordan, Rini, Jackie

• Señor Orque will distribute the jackets and send emails: all the pick-ups for first round orders are done! 

• Encourage your friends to buy it if they haven’t already done so!

• Though we have already finished the publicity and the due date is almost here, is there any organization that we should donate the money to? (s/o to Mr. Diaz De Leon)

- could potentially donate extra funds to Stop AAPI Hate

4. October event: an identity formation? October 17th, 18th, 19th (18th preference) in the Choral Room at 3-4pm

 Think: what does our community need to discuss right now? Be the eyes and ears of this campus!

• Start thinking about it now so we can plan!

• Send any ideas to co-presidents or moderators, we will be open to suggestions.
  Finalize topic by October 28th

  - Ashley and Nam will start the slides and then send it out to assign roles

  - be sure to do your research and be prepared to present your slide

  - get slides done by Monday night (10/16)

Conversations we have had in the past:

• Confronting Colorism

• Is Filipino Asian or Pacific Islander?

• Anti-blackness within the Asian community 

Nam and Ashley’s Workshopped Idea:

Mental health within the Asian community, specifically centering issues of

1. Effects of microaggressions, hate crimes, hate speech

2. Having to manage those feelings alongside expectations between family, self, friendships, outside communities 

And highlighting the importance of remembering your ethnic roots within a predominantly white institution that pressures you to assimilate, while also embracing your authentic self as you aren’t just defined by one of your identities (basically learn to love yourself for all that you are!)

6. ASC’s 50th Anniversary

- mostly an alumni dinner event, but we can also have our own event for the student body!

- invite ASC alumni and/or other ASC members

- panel for the alumni event, feel free to volunteer if you’d like to speak on it

- good chance to network with people

7. Pasko recruitment has begun! Sr. Orque will send the email after Kickoff (this week).

- 15th Pasko Anniversary!!!

- Board should participate!!!

- Try to publicize to the entire school community 

-Tell your friends to sign up too!

8. The Unity Council Meeting was last Friday, Sept. 22 during X-Period!

• Any updates from Unity Council?

• not many people showed up

  - introduction to Unity Council

  - going over mission and vision statement

9. board bonding?!?!? Oct 22nd, 2pm-3pm (ish)

• weekend after our first ID formation!!!

  - Let’s hangout, and also make time to reflect on our leadership for the quarter
  Bowling in Yerba Buena: 2:00-3:00pm, and we will hangout for a bit and get boba after!
