Before this meeting starts, please sit at a table with one senior, junior, and

sophomore/moderator in order for us to get to know each other.

It’s important for us to not just be a board but to be a community,

so reach out and say hi to each other in the hallways or anywhere outside of meetings!


Happy November everyone!!! Say congrats to all of our seniors who submitted early applications and to Ms. Wong who had to write hella recommendation letters!!!


Today’s Check In: Who or what reminds you of home? —home is up to interpretation! Whatever you feel comfortable with 

1. Diwali 

  • This year it is celebrated on 11/12/23!

  • Event is set for Thursday, November 9, @3pm in the Choral Room!

  • Open event

  • Festival of Lights celebrated in Hinduism and sometimes Buddhism

  • Usually lasts five days during the lunisolar month of Kartika 

Let’s reach out to ASC members/ students to help plan and lead the event: Rohan-List by next meeting— thanks Rohan for reaching out!

  • Aim to have list of people before next meeting: Thursday 10/26
    - Hariel, Uma, Kira

    - we have enough supplies from last year!


Our first planning meeting was yesterday! Thank you so much to everyone who showed up!

    • Painting candles - check for supplies  

-  Rangolis like last year 

- supplies (only if we are doing something other than rangolis cause Orque has everything): 5 different colors, 5 pounds

-Print out Rangoli pattern templates


  1. Slides: highly encourage everyone that has signed up to do personal experiences of celebrating Diwali and what the holiday means to them, and they can also help out with other slides too if they want!

**for personal stories, please tell them to have a draft of what they want to say by the next meeting (TBD) so that they have ample time to practice public speaking

  1. Food list– what should we eat? 

This was our food list from last year so feel free to incorporate anything you want to do this year: 

sweets: Kaju katli Kheer, Rasgulla, Rasmalai 

savory: Samosas

drinks: Mango lassi, Water, lemonade 

What does Rini want to bring: 

  • Naan

  • Butter chicken

  1. Order of Activities: does this work for everyone? 

  1. Introduction to Diwali and Sharing of Personal Stories first so that people don’t leave right after eating food?

  3. Then have the activity last 

    1. Candle painting: Ashley will check for painted pots + candles from last year 

      We have enough for 100 People

We will work on slides together with anyone who signs up to help plan the event! Stay tuned!


2A. Pasko— Senor Orque, any updates for us?

  • Cultural Dance practice began on 10/29 Sunday - Sr. Orque sent emails to those interested

  • Pasko Fashion Show practice will begin tomorrow - Friday, November 3, at 3pm in Weigand. first rehearsal!!!! LETS GOGOGOGO

  • Singing audition videos WERE due this Sunday to SIPAC Parents - good luck to all who submitted 

  • Other questions or ideas?

2B. ASC Jackets

  • No new updates from last weeks

  • Jackets ordered

  • Estimated arrival: end of November

  • We will donate extra funds to Stop AAPI Hate— Nam has reached out to Ms.Hernandez and is currently awaiting response!

4. ALAS Showcase

  • Thank you to anyone who showed up to support!!! Special shout outs to ANTHONY JIN for performing the most beautiful slam poetry this world has ever seen

5. Affinity Groups X-Period: next Tuesday, November 7, during X-Period in Weigand!
