1. Affinity Group X-Period on 11/11/25

  • What went well?
    • Name tag colour groups
    • Writing answers before sharing — brainstorming
    • Leaders sharing our answers first as an example
  • What could we improve?
    • Standardise timing
    • Remove transitions on the slides

2.  Moderators: Reminder about Board Member expectations

    • Communicate early, and often.

    • Sr Orque and Co-Secretaries update this for ASC events

All board members will hold the following responsibilities:

  • Plan at least one major event.
  • Attend all board meetings, times to be determined.
  • Attend and run all general membership meetings, times to be determined.
  • Attend all major events.
  • Attend all four Affinity Group X Periods.
  • Communicate regularly and clearly with Moderators and other board members.
  • Complete other duties as assigned by Moderators.
  • Positively and actively represent Affinity Groups and their missions at all times.
  • Commit to ACTIVELY growing and dialoguing about issues of equity, inclusion, etc. (for example: race, ethnicity, gender, sexuality, intersectionality...). This includes collaborating on the Affinity Group X periods each quarter.

 

We hope that all board members are open to growth and will place

Affinity Groups as a high priority (top two) among their co-curriculars.



 3.  Pasko 

  • Expectation is that all ASC Board members will participate.
    • Pachi will not be at Pasko this year.
  • Pachi, Cruz, and Radhika - SIPAC Pasko planning meetings update
    • What was brought up from Wed 11/12 meeting
      • Paroles might interfere with the show — can use idea for another event
    • Updates on the Student raffle baskets
      • ASC board to pitch in for baskets (2 Baskets)
        • SI Merch?
        • Ask deans for free dress — Co-presidents
        • Snacks
        • Gift Cards (try to support smaller businesses)— Starbucks, Noah’s, Andytown, Paris Baguette, T-Pumps
          • contribute $15 each member
  • Parole Making for decorations?
    • Small “to-go” bags to make at home
      • No space to make paroles during the event
    • 2026 — making paroles ahead of time and bringing them to the event

4. Northern California Regional Convening & Listening Session -

  • Speaker: Jason Tengco ‘06
  • Monday, November 17, 4-6pm, at Chinese Culture Center
  • Learn about the work of the National Asian Pacific American Museum Commission


5. Work with Filipino Cultural Club for their December meeting?

  • Will be collaborating with FCC
  • Support with publicity, planning, being in attendance at event 
  • May need support financially for food


6. Board bonding?

  • After finals? — will send dates/timeslots in GC
  • Ideas:
    • Hotpot/food
    • Beach Bonfire, s’mores, music/karaoke
    • Union Square?
    • Rock Climbing


7. Closing

At the end of the meeting: every person will say aloud their action item(s) and deadlines. (instead of Co-Presidents saying this)

Everyone should have at least one action item to complete (if there are enough), and it should be listed on the agenda for everyone to reference.

Señor Cafasso: I just wanted to send you a quick note to let you know that the students who used the room this week left it IMPECCABLE!! Please share with them my sincere gratitude for the care they took of their space, it was very commendable and I could not forget to let them know how much I appreciate it.

Today’s Check-In: If you had to eat at one restaurant for the rest of your life, where would it be?


1. Identity Formation - November 4, Tuesday

  • What went well?
    • Lot more people than last year.
    • Snack selection was very good.
    • People paid attention during presentation.
  • What could we improve?
    • Publicize different rooms more.
    • Remove transitions on slides.
    • Should have more variety of beads for jewelry making.
  • Which Historian/Publicist will take pictures during event, and put in Google Drive - anyone else can as well!
  • Post-event Post and/or story on IG:
  • Date to post: Friday, 11/7, after school

   4.  Pasko 

  • Expectation is that all ASC Board members will participate.
    • Pachi will not be at Pasko this year.

    • Ideas brought up from Wed 11/5 meeting
      • Interactive audience
      • Decorate art during event for kids that students can run - Filipino paroles 
      • Student raffle baskets (ASC Board will have to do themselves, has to be from donations) Ex:
        • Free dress
        • Snacks
      • ASC board basket?  — Only for students
    • Keep in mind - who will organize and run these activities, where will they happen, and what about the Pasko performances?
      • Prepare for meeting: Check slides; Pre submit questions to Sr. Orque by Wednesday 6 pm
      • Camera should be on
    • Would be helpful for ASC Board members to pre-submit questions and turn on their camera.
    • Discuss: What kinds of feedback/questions should they ask during the meetings?
      • Side activities — eg. Table w/ games
      • Engage youth - not just raffles and shows; other things to do on the side
      • Marketing in mid-November  for tickets and publicity, marketing — food, activities, etc



5. Note from Moderators about Affinity Events

“For future school emails, You can say it is an affinity space but leave it at that. I think the culture has been built that our community (for the most part) understands that affinity means for a particular identity. The only time we would say anything different is if it is open to the whole community, like Pasko or a showcase, in which case I would emphasize that all are welcome.”

Please remind students to not say things like "Members Only."
